We're not dead!

Seriously.

It's been a busy week and as of last night the last writer for the NES Top 50 sent in their work. As such, we'll be starting the commenting process on all 50 games that have been chosen and have that up ASAP.

The writer list has been dropped down to only 6 people, but it should be a hell of a good time! Any bets on what game came out as #1?

Man did that sting like a fucker down near the wrist. I don't have what you would call manly forearms, so needle on bone made me wince.

If you are unaware of the awesome of this code, I demand you unfriend this journal now.

A special announcement!

Well, kids. We have some good news and some bad news. As some of you may (or may not) know, Starman has been hitting the streets, saving the scene, getting a new job since his vacation ended as of March 1st.

Well he has gone and done it, Starman has fought against the recession and landed himself a new job! You can now all jump in the air, clicking your heels together and shout "Skiddle-dee-doo!" right about...now!

But it does come at a cost. Starman will be doing training for the next few days, learning how to slap stupid numpty co-workers and throwing plates at the wall (he's a real chef after all). This means that oh no, there will be no reviews and no podcast this week!

You can now all groan and cry and stomp around while holding your breath until you turn blue...now!

Fear not, readers! Content is still coming, as is the Top 50 when the last writer finishes their list (you know who you are). Friday is a day off so Starman will get everything promised up on the site plus more, then we'll be back to normal. Bringing you the lulz and out brand of geekery.

Thanks for being patient!

Kin Corn Karn

By The Power Of Grayskull #1

Before video games starting consuming my life, I had another obsession, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I would spend days down in my basement, inventing stories and seeing just how much punishment these figures could take. Trust me, these toys were made to survive a nuclear blast. If an 8 year old with a penchant for destroying all toys up till that point (the only thing I have from my childhood is a big Tonka truck, and that was mostly metal). Then nothing could break them.

Like Starman with G.I. Joes, I had adult situations with figures, characters that were cool, and ones that were just people's bitches. Right now, I am going to talk about the biggest bitches in the He-Man universe. That's right, get ready for my 5 top worst He-Man figures made during the original toy run. That's right, only the classic line here.

A wee change in the agenda.

The Stars Wars trilogy on the SNES is taking a lot longer to complete than originally thought. With three massive games chock full of different game play elements, it's no big surprise. Unfortunately this means the mega-review won't be posted until tomorrow morning. Later that same day we'll have Final Fight for Arcade and Gradius on the good old NES.

We're working as fast as we can, stop beating us! D:

I am also gonna build a cake. Take that, suckers!

Starman vs. Kin Corn Karn Uncut #2

So here it is, our 2nd podcast ever. As promised (threatened) it goes a little longer, almost an hour; but we have a lot to talk about.

http://ourmedia.org/node/489161

I apologize for some of the sound quality. Karn and I got a little out of control in terms of yelling about shit (you'll understand). Just don't crank up the volume. Sugary donut treats and Coca-Cola didn't do us any favours.

The Top 50 Guest Writers have been revealed and a special friends only post will be up on Sunday to give details for what these writers need to do.

As always, leave us comments to let us know what we can do to make it a better experience for all of us.

Last chance, suckers.

We're an hour or two away from recording our second podcast. This is your last chance to ask us anything.

We'll be recapping the week, talking about next week, the upcoming Top 50 and who our guest writers are, which RPG we'll pick for the first RPG review, some Street Fighter action, a little wrestling talk and then the Q&A.

We wanted to try and keep things in the 30 minute mark but yeah, that ain't gonna be possible this week.

If you can't listen to the cast, we'll be making a friends only post to announce the guest writers and the information they are going to need to know for the project.

It might actually be up tonight instead of tomorrow. We'll see how it turns out.

Ok, we get it!

After posting the poll about what genre you want to see more of, Karn and I have come to realize that you people love your RPGs. Fair enough. We haven't reviewed one yet. To even get a good grasp of an RPG we'll have to focus on that game and that game only for at least a day. So once again, we need your help!

What RPG shall be our first review? Any system, any RPG. The first person who says Zelda (any Zelda) gets a picture of my cock. Seriously. Flaccid. Any RPG but that please. Comments go!

SNESilicious #8: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Tournament Fighters

Published By: Konami
System: Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Release Date: 1993
Genre: 2D Versus Fighting
Players: 1-2 (Versus)
Other Platforms: NES, Sega Genesis
Emulator Used: ZSNESWin 1.35

Tournament Fighters SNES

Starman: The bastards at Konami stole my idea. Seriously. Before Tournament Fighters was released I went on and on about a TMNT fighting game the likes of Street Fighter II. If I had any idea how to make such things, I would have; but instead the mad-scientists of Konami invaded my dreams and stole my idea.

This is why I wear a tin-foil hat now.

Karn picked this game out simply to spite me. After being forced to play Tuff E Nuff he felt it was in his best interest to upstage me. Jerk. Know a guy for 25 years and he uses the Ninja Turtles against me.

Kin Corn Karn: I know we just covered a turtles game last week, but after Starman made me do Tuff E Nuff, I wanted to do a good fighting game. And I picked a damn good one. TMNT Tournament Fighters is one of the best games you will find that uses the Street Fighter II formula. I remember the first time I played this game. It let me do the one thing I had always wanted to do with Ninja Turtles - beat the holy fucking shit out of Leo with Raph. I am sure Starman will agree with me on that one, right buddy?

You pick from you favorite turtle or baddie, and go on a fist and feet flying romp. Some baddies you will know, some you may never have heard of. But that is part of what makes the game so great. It takes from all over the Turtles universe, not just the cartoon. Awesome job to Konami for going beyond the norm!
